Trondheim can be reached by air, rail, car, or bus. Rail and bus tickets are bought via Entur or their app.

Getting from the airport to Trondheim (or vice versa) can be done by the airport bus, the regular bus, the train, or by taxi. The regular bus and the train use the same tickets, and can be bought from AtB or their app; this is by far the cheapest option, but only runs hourly. The airport bus Værnesexpressen is more expensive but leaves every 15 minutes during peak hours. Taxi is by far the most expensive, but can be pre-ordered as rideshare ("flytaxi") for 1–2 people via Trøndertaxi at a reduced price. It is also possible to rent a car.

Getting around town is easiest by bus. AtB operates the busses. Tickets are bought prior to boarding, and are easiest to buy in AtB's app.

Trondheim has plentiful access to hotels and other accommodation.

Things to do in Trondheim

Trondheim, founded 997, is Norway's first capital and still the ecclesiastical center of Norway. The gothic cathedral is Northern Europe's largest. Trondheim is today a major center of learning and knowledge industry, with approximately 1/5th of its population students. At 215,000 people, Trondheim is Norway's third most populous county.

17 May is Constitution Day in Norway. This is heavily celebrated, including the famous Children's Parade (all the schoolchildren) and the People's Parade (civilian and sports organizations, many in costumes).

The great cathedral Nidarosdomen and the adjacent Archbishops's Palace are the living memory of Trondheim's ecclesiastical past, and an important center of power until the reformation in 1537. Nidarosdomen is still a church, the Archbishop's Palace houses several museums.

The hills around Trondheim are excellent spots to go hiking, with many scenic trails, all free and open to the general public.
